Bicentennial Events

Pekin's Bicentennial Street Faire will be held in downtown Pekin on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 10am-4pm.

Beginning at 10am, a parade honoring WW2 Veterans will take place. Veterans will be honored on the Tazewell County Courthouse lawn.

An entertainment stage featuring a Kids Choir, Dog Show, Aerial Athletics performers, Longest beard contest, Best handlebar mustache contest, Classical Dance Academy performers, and more is booked from 10am until 4pm.

At 1pm, a photo will be taken of everyone in attendance by Photography By Deverman and the Pekin Fire Department. Following the photo, a Rock the Boat event happens. The event involves people sitting in rows on the street, with simple choreographed arm movements to the music. Rock the Boat is popular on social media with Derry Ireland recently having 1889 participants. A drone will be videoing the event.

A Kids Art Show will be held in the 400 block Pocket Park.

Rhythm and Brews at 513 Court will host an Old Tyme Saloon.

A Volunteer Appreciation will begin at 11am.

Kid's carnival games will line the streets.

Downtown restaurants and food trucks serving their specialties will adorm the streets. Other unique businesses will be selling their wares.

Plaques with QR codes are being installed on over 20 of our downtown buildings that tell their rich history.

Yesterday's Bar and Grill will serve adult (and other enjoyable) beverages.

The downtown businesses have given baskets and gift cards for a raffle.

Abraham and Mary Lincoln will be in attendance for photo ops.

The first Downtown Concert Series follows from 5pm-10pm featuring the band 2nd Chance.
